Let’s get this Spring Cleaning Party started!

FOYER SPRING CLEANING

  1. Start by dusting light fixtures.
  2. Wipe down walls and trim
  3. Detail wash knobs, doors, and switch plates.
  4. Place bench cushion in laundry and wash bench.
  5. Remove all items from closet. Wash walls and floor and organize items by season when you put them back. Place unwanted items in Spring Cleaning Donation Box.
  6. Entry mat clean up.
  7. Vacuum and scrub floors.
  8. Grout and tile reseal if necessary.

 

BEDROOM SPRING CLEANING

  1. Ventilate room or open windows
  2. Begin dusting and washing room from top to bottom (start with ceiling fans, lights, and corner ceiling cobwebs)
  3. Remove items from each drawer, wash drawer, and organize and replace items. Place unwanted items in Spring Cleaning Donation Box.
  4. Remove all items from closet. Wash walls and floor and organize items by season when you put them back. Place unwanted items in Spring Cleaning Donation Box.
  5. Move and vacuum under bed. Sort and put away items underneath and try not to store anything under there once done.
  6. Sprinkle baking soda on mattress and vacuum it up 15 minutes later to freshen it up.
  7. Launder and wash pillow covers, duvet, curtains, and bedding in hot water. Air out mattress cover.
  8. Dust and wash lamp shades.
  9. Remove window screens and wash windows and window sills.
  10. Wash and sanitize switch plates with alcohol.  Wash walls and trim as needed.
  11. Clean mirrors and art pieces.
  12. Wash the doors and sanitize door knobs.
  13. Thoroughly clean vents and filters and wash registers.
  14. Vacuum and wash floors.

 

BATHROOM SPRING CLEANING

  1. Ventilate room or open windows.
  2. Dust ceiling fans and light fixtures.
  3. Remove all items from cabinets and vanity. Wash and replace items neatly, throwing out any expired medications and cosmetics.
  4. Sanitize cabinet handles and wash outside.
  5. Clean tub (remember not to use abrasives and scrub lightly). Clean and polish drain.
  6. Remove toilet seat, clean around bolts and wash toilet inside and out. Use acidic cleaner and pumice stone for hard stains.
  7. Clean and polish sink and drain.
  8. Clean and polish faucets with microfiber towel.
  9. Clean that mirror.
  10. Remove window screens and wash windows and window sills.
  11. Wash and sanitize switch plates with alcohol.  Wash walls and trim as needed.
  12. Thoroughly clean vents and filters and wash registers.
  13. Vacuum and wash floors. Use lint roller instead of vacuum for smaller bathrooms.
  14. Reseal grout.

 

KITCHEN SPRING CLEANING

  1. Open windows and ventilate room.
  2. Dust top of kitchen surfaces and light fixtures.
  3. Clean window covers and remove if necessary. Use a pressurized spray bottle to mist mini blinds and wash with towel gently.
  4. Remove all items from cabinets. Wash and replace items neatly, throwing out any expired medications and cosmetics.
  5. Clean and sanitize cutting boards
  6. Use wet stone to sharpen knives
  7. Wash and sanitize cabinet doors and knobs
  8. Clean out and organize the pantry.  Throw away expired items.
  9. Clean oven by running self clean cycle. Use a strong degreaser instead of harsh oven cleaners.
  10. Clean glass stove top with 0000 grade steel wool. Remove and clean grates and wash in sink with degreaser.
  11. Defrost, clean, and organize fridge and freezer. Check food expiry dates.
  12. Clean under fridge and stove; use degreaser if necessary.
  13. Vacuum and clean refrigerator coils.
  14. Clean microwave using bowl of water and vinegar or lemon.
  15. Clean toaster crumbs.
  16. Descale kettle by boiling water/vinegar mix. Boil pure water after before use.
  17. Wipe down counter appliances
  18. Wash counters and back splash. Don’t use acidic substances on marble or granite.
  19. Wash and shine sink by following grain of stainless steel.  Shine and polish  faucet and drain.
  20. Clean and deodorize dishwasher.
  21. Wash windows and window sills.  Remove window screens and wash.
  22. Wash and sanitize switch plates.
  23. Wash walls and trim as needed, always following the grain of brushed steel appliances. Clean metal surfaces in sections to avoid streaking.
  24. Wash doors and sanitize door knobs.
  25. Clean floor registers and vents/filters.
  26. Vacuum and wash floor.
  27. Reseal grout/floor.

 

DINING ROOM SPRING CLEANING

  1. Open windows.
  2. Dust art and light fixtures and tops of furniture.
  3. Clean and wash curtains.
  4. Wash and polish table and chairs. Use a simple lemon oil mix or high grade polish for wood needing more luster.
  5. Wash chair pads.
  6. Dust china.
  7. Launder table linens.
  8. Shine silverware using a tub lined with aluminum foil and hot water/baking soda mix.
  9. Wash windows and window sills.  Take out and wash window screens.
  10. Sanitize switch plates.
  11. Wash walls and baseboards.
  12. Wash doors and sanitize door knobs.
  13. Clean the floor registers and other vent covers.
  14. Wash floors.

 

LIVING ROOM/ FAMILY ROOM/ PLAYROOM SPRING CLEANING

  1. Open windows.
  2. Dust shelving, art, lamps, light fixtures, lampshades, electronics and television screen (use microfiber towel and alcohol).
  3. Vacuum sofa and cushions.
  4. Spot clean sofas or launder covers if possible.
  5. Launder throw pillow covers.
  6. Wash windows and window sills.
  7. Take out and wash window screens.
  8. Use cable ties to manage cables. Tuck out of sight or use sticky hooks to run along backs of furniture.
  9. Purge DVD collection of unwanted items. Sort in alphabetical order and arrange attractively.
  10. Sort books and magazines, placing donation items in Spring Cleaning Donation box.
  11. Launder stuffed toys and wash plastic children’s toys with warm soapy water. Place unwanted items in Spring Cleaning Donation box.
  12. Wash and sanitize switch plates.
  13. Wash walls and trim as needed.
  14. Sanitize and wash doors and knobs.
  15. Clean floor registers and other vent covers.
  16. Wash floors.

 

LAUNDRY ROOM SPRING CLEANING

  1. Open windows and ventilate.
  2. Wash windows and window sills and clean window screens after removal.
  3. Wash cabinet doors.
  4. Clean inside cabinets.
  5. Wash laundry sink, following grain of stainless steel. Polish faucet and drain.
  6. Wash outside of washer and dryer.
  7. Wash inside of washing machine. Deodorize with vinegar if necessary.
  8. Use soap and water on lint trap to remove deposits. Hang dry before replacing.
  9. Sanitize switch plates.
  10. Wash the walls and trim.
  11. Wash doors and sanitize door knobs.
  12. Clean the floor registers and other vent cover/filters.
  13. Vacuum and wash floors.
  14. Reseal grout.

 

STAIRWELL SPRING CLEANING

  1. Dust art and light fixtures.
  2. Vacuum and wash stairs.
  3. Spot clean walls using magic erasers.
  4. Wipe and sanitize handrail.

 

EXTERIOR SPRING CLEANING

  1. Sweep and hose down porches and walkway.
  2. Wash thresholds and trim.
  3. Wash doors and clean glass.
  4. Welcome mat dusting or clean.
  5. Wash siding with solution hose attachment.
